WITH ORGANISATIONS / LINKS MIT ORGANISATIONEN
We have been making contact and building good links with other local organisations.
We have had several meetings with representatives of the High School and we
look forward to giving our support for school exchange visits whenever this
is needed. A County Youth Officer is also working with the school to explore
a different basis to normal school exchanges.
The
Youth Football Chairmen of each town are in contact with each other and the
Shanty choirs of Otterndorf and Sheringham have exchanged invitations and
CD's of their recordings.
A dance
group from Wanna, near Otterndorf, had hoped to join in our Potty Festival
this year but could not arrange suitable flights, and hope to join us on some
future occasion.
George
Bullen and I are working together to encourage more exchanges with similar
interest groups in our two towns and he is writing regular articles for the
local Independent News to promote our Association and extend our membership

SOCIAL EVENT / RAISING FUNDS (SERF) NEW / SOZIALCFall- / ANHEBENCKapital (SKLAVEC) NACHRICHTEN
Events got off to
a flying start at the April Coffee Morning, which raised £176 for the
Association funds.
Thirty-four members, their friends and other visitors enjoyed a very successful
morning at the Southlands Hotel with some interest being shown by potential
new members. Our thanks to Tel & Tony for their hospitality.
The May Social Evening
was not quite so well supported but a noisy, hectic, hilarious Beetle Drive
was enjoyed by those who did attend.
Thirty-two members
braved the traditional English BBQ weather (cold, wet and windy) on 17th June,
and were well rewarded. As well as steak and sausages cooked by Chef Brian,
delicious salads and "puds" were made by Maureen,
Our thanks to both for a thoroughly enjoyable time. Roll on the next one!
The next date for
your diary is the Sheringham Open Gardens Day on Sunday 15th July - Details,
complete with map and list of participating gardens will be available from
the Library, Sheringham Tourist Information Office and the Jolly Tar.
A charge of £2.00 per head covers all gardens.
For more information regarding the day please contact any of your SERFS:
Ann Bembridge or Glenys Gray or Evelyn Meakin via the contact button

Editor's Notes / HerausgeberAnmerkungen
We distribute copies
of this newsletter to all members and in the past to those Otterndorfers who
made voluntary contributions to our funds which we understand may not continue.
We are also uncertain of the circulation of the recent Newsletters we sent
to Otterndorf
The committee believes
that our Otterndorf friends would like to be kept in touch with our Sheringham
activities and we have started a list of their names and addresses so that
our Newsletters can be sent to them directly.
If you would like
to add your Ottendorf contact's name and address to the list we will send
them a copy of each newsletter. If there is sufficient interest then we shall
consider producing a German language version for our German friends.
Evelyn Meakin is holding the name and address list and would be pleased to
hear from you.
This initiative gives
you, the members, an opportunity of not only involving your Otterndorf contacts
but also contributing to this newsletter any item of general interest for
publication and distribution in the August Newsletter.
The final copy date
is 6th August but I shall be pleased to receive your contribution as soon
as you can put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard!
Yes, The Association is now on the Internet and our newsletters will be available
in the way mentioned above or by simply right clicking and selecting the Print
option of any page here.
Our email address is twinning@sheringhamtown.co.uk
