There is much debate going on as to whether the town needs another supermarket - my view is that Budgens and Co-op cannot a wide enough range of products and in the summer months they cannot even stock enough of the basic staples such as bread and milk.
Scamrod (a local pressure group) argue that an out of town supermarket would not put anything into the economy and would force other traders to close - yet the very same group would be more than happy for a large supermaket in the town centre - One wonders how a supermarket in the town would put more into the economy than one just literally outsaide the centre and how Scamrod feel that traders would not be affected if a large supermarket was to be in the middle of town!!!

To keep Scamrod happy a supermarket would have to enlarge it's presence of an existing site, and Scamrod would be happy for this...for this to happen with Budgens it would mean Hunts biting the dust and for the Co-Op it would mean a shop either side biting the dust...it is gratifying to see Scamrod support local trade so much!

Perhaps Scamrod members should open their eyes not only towards the amount of money lost out of the town due to mass exodus of shoppers to Safeway in Cromer but to the amount of delivery vehicles in the town for Tesco & Iceland - I use internet shopping with both Iceland & Tesco, but I buy all my meat and veg locally. So my weekly grocery bill gets spent outside the town anyway. The local traders can supply my fresh needs but Budgens and Co-Op cannot even come close to offering the range and more importantly the pricing that I require.

A poll of the 7000plus residents of Sheringham should be taken and the views of what the majority of the population want be acted upon.
