BeFriends Project

BeFriends is a local project which enables adults with a learning difficulty to enjoy social activities in the community with the support of a volunteer. It is a project of BUILD, a registered charity and an independent voluntary organisation whose services are aimed at empowering its members and building self-confidence.

BeFriends members and volunteers are matched in a one-to-one partnership according to their interests, hobbies and personalities and it is very important that they have fun together! Activities could include going to the pub, bowling, cinema, chatting over a coffee, theatre… the world’s your oyster AND we pay all volunteer expenses! Befriends also hold group activities and social gatherings such as the BUILD annual party and Summer BBQ.

We are currently looking for volunteers within the North Norfolk area, which covers Sheringham, Cromer, Walcott, inland to North Walsham and the villages in between. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, finding out more about the BeFriends project or using the service then please contact Sharon Forster, North Norfolk Project Worker, on the number below.
